RULES FOR ADMISSION

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Students of B.A./B.Sc./B.Com should visit the college website to follow the direction for admission. They have to deposit the fee of the application from to the particular bank as directed in the website. After that, they can fill up the application form. A merit list will be published in the college website after a particular cut-off date.

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the time of admission, the selected candidates should submit the receipt of the bank together with the printout of the filled-in application form and attested copies of mark-sheets, admit cards, registration certificates etc. of Madhyamik and H.S. examination for admission to B.A./B.Com. School leaving certificates issued by the institution attended last must be submitted at the time of admission. Passport size photographs to be submitted. Original documents to be produced at the time of admission.

 

SC/ST candidates should submit attested copies of relevant documents issued by appropriate authorities (DM/SDO/MLA/MP/Zilla Parished Member/Municipal Councillor) along with the form. Original documents to be produced at the time of admission.

 

Physically handicapped candidates should submit attested copies of authentic documents along with the form. Original documents to be produced at the time of admission.

 

Separate application forms are to be submitted for Honours & General Subjects.

Students must take a thorough note of the admission policy, as and when required.

Merit list will be published in the college notice board. The decision of the admission committee regarding admission of a student to the college is final.

 

Eligibility for admission to each and every course will be followed as per the guidance of Calcutta University as follows :

 

Regulations for Admission to the Three-Years B.A./B.Com

 

(Honours, General and Major) Courses of Studies.

 

Admission Qualifications :

 

  1. A candidate may be admitted to the first year of three-year B.A./B.Sc./B.Com(Honours/ General/Major) courses of Studies on passing H.S. (10+2) Examination in General or Vocational Stream conducted by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or an equivalent examination conducted by other State Board/Council.

 

In case of other Board/Council, a candidate shall have to pass in four recognized subjects of full marks not being less than 100 each of which one shall be English. A candidate passing in four subjects excluding Environmental Studies shall be eligible for such admission to the Course.

 

Marks obtained in top four subjects Excluding Environmental Studies shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing the H.S. (10+2) Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks (CSR/41/07, dt.29.03.07) &(CSR/3/18, DT. 07.05.2018).

 

 

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in compulsory Environmental Education/studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject ‘‘Environmental Science’’ is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.

 

Students of the (10+2) level passing out from the All India Boards/Councils (i.e. C.B.S.E., I.S.C. and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit the Migration Certificate for getting registration under this University, (vide ref. No. R/103 circular 2007 dt. 22.05.07 of the Registrar, C.U) (CSR/3/18, DT. 07.05.2018).

 

  1. No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a laspe of more than 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular courses of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.

 

Explanation : The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating 5 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.

 

  1. A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must obtain :

(i)        A minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject

at the previous qualifying examination (vide Notification No. CSR/37/06, dated 21.08.06). (CSR/3/18, DT. 07.05.2018)

OR

(ii)      55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.

 

(iii)    50% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied. Admission will be made on the basis of test held by the college authority for the purpose. However, candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe community taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examinations, as the case may be.

 

Seat reservation for admission in the first year class of three year degree courses of studies shall be guided by the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institution (Reservation in Admission). Act, 2013 and the West Bengal State Higher Educational Institution (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2014.

 

  1. For the B.A. (Honours, General and Major) Course of studies a candidate is required to choose her Honours and two/three elective subjects, as the case may be.

 

  1. A candidate shall be allowed to take up the subject(s) under heading ‘‘A’’ if he/she had passed the subject(s) under heading ‘‘B’’ at the previous qualifying examination :

 

Commerce :

 

  1. Following subject be treated as related subjects for admission to B.Com. Honours courses. Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organization, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office and secretarial Practice, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy & Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principal of Management, Commercial Law and preliminaries of Auditing Costing and Taxation.

 

  1. A candidate shall be allowed to take up B.Com (General) Course if he/she had passed the subject(s) at the previous qualifying examination as mentioned below :

 

Accountancy / Business Economics including Business Mathematics /Business Organization/ Mathematics / Economics / Statistics /Commerce /Accounts / Business Studies /Financial Accounting / Office and Secretarial Practice / Elements of Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management, Commercial Law and preliminaries of Auditing Costing and Taxation.

 

  1. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent from the All India Boards / Councils (i.e. CBSE, ISC and National Institute of Open Schooling) need not require to submit the Migration certificate for getting Registration under this University.

 

  1. A candidate who is admitted to the Honours or General Course of Studies may take any of the four DSE (Discipline Specific Elective) Course, two courses in each of the 5th and 6th Semester (as offered by the College).
